The California Highway Patrol was busy all day Sunday.
At about 2:22 a.m. there was a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident near Mt. Springs Road on eastbound Interstate 8. The victim sustained cuts and bruises. The CHP is investigating the incident as a hit and run accident.
Shortly after Noon Sunday a motor home caught fire on westbound Interstate 8 near Mt. Springs Road. Traffic was stopped for a time as the fire burned and authorities took precautions due to propane tanks on the motor home. One lane was shut down until 6:00 p.m. Traffic on both lanes was open by 6:00 p.m. The motor home and trailer were left on the shoulder of the Highway until cleanup could be accomplished on Monday.
At 3:00 p.m. Sunday an SUV and a pickup truck collided at Eddies and Brandt Roads. The truck then struck a utility pole and that caused wires to drop. The County Road Department was called in to close the road until repairs could be made to the pole.
