El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents seized over a quarter of a million dollars worth of drugs over Presidents Day Weekend.
Friday morning at the Highway 111 checkpoint a Border Patrol canine team alerted to a Dodge Journey. Agents found slightly over 2 pounds of methamphetamine in the area of the front passenger seat. The 32-year old driver and a 33-year old passenger were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Friday afternoon at the Highway 86 checkpoint , a canine team alerted to a car. During secondary inspection , officers patted down the driver and found a plastic bag with 397 pills of tramadol hydrochloride. The pills have a street value on nearly $100,000. The 26-year old driver was arrested and turned over to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office.
Saturday night at the Highway 86 checkpoint a canine team alerted to a Kia Soul. During secondary inspection three packages of fentanyl and two packages of Oxycodone were found hidden in a fire extinguisher. The drugs have a street value of over $131,000. The driver , a 29-year old U. S. Citizen , was turned over to the DEA.
Sunday night at the Highway 86 checkpoint , a canine team alerted to a Honda Accord. Agents discovered 50 packages hidden in the gas tank. The packages contained nearly 52 pounds of methamphetamine valued at almost $130,000. The 19-year old driver was turned over to the DEA.
