While the number of active COVID-19 cases in Imperial County continues to trend downward the number of deaths has gone up. 

 The Thursday morning numbers from the Imperial County Public Health Department reported that the death toll is now 584 , up from 574 the day before. According to the Health Department , the jump in the numbers of deaths does not necessarily mean that the deaths occurred in the past 24 hours. Each death is investigated to determine the cause of death and sometimes it takes days and even weeks to identify the coronavirus as the cause of death. Active cases dipped again. From 577 on Wednesday to 563 on Thursday. Currently 37 individuals are hospitalized with the virus. Twenty-three COVID-19 patients are currently in the Intensive Care Unit.
