(Teen Caught trying to smuggle meth)....It happened Thursday afternoon.

El Centro Border Patrol agents were working the Immigration Checkpoint on State Route 2. At around 4:00 pm a silver Acura drove up to the checkpoint. A Border Patrol K-9 Detection Team alerted to the vehicle. The vehicle was sent to the secondary inspection area. During the inspection agents discovered 13 plastic wrapped packages. They tested positive fo methamphetamine. The driver of th vehicle, a 17 year old US citizen was arrested. The narcotics weighed approximately 43 and a half pounds with an estimated value of over $98,000. The driver, the meth and the vehicle were all turned over to the Imperial County Narcotics Task Force.
