(Suitcase contains Methamphetamine)...It was found Wednesday morning.
A passenger bus was stopped at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Highway 86, near Salton City. The bus was sent to the secondary inspection area. Border Patrol agents were given permission to scan the bus with a mobile x-ray inspection system. The agents found anomalies in a suitcase in the baggage compartment. They say a Canine detection team alerted to the suitcase. Inside agents found 14 packages of methamphetamine. The packages weighed just over 5 pounds, with an estimated value of $11,700. Agents determined the luggage was abandoned, and the meth was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
