(Border Patrol Provides critical assistance)...It happened Christmas Eve.

A Yuma Sector Border Patrol agent was patrolling near the Andrade Port of Entry. At around 3:00 in the afternoon, the agent spotted a man lying on the ground. The agent checked on the man and realized he needed immediate medical attention. The agent requested assistance from trained Border Patrol EMT's. When they arrived the examined the 60 year old man and found labored breathing, a weak pulse and the man was turning purple. They provided oxygen immediately. The EMT's suspected a drug over-dose. They administered NARCAN via nasal spray. Rural Metro EMT's arrived and took over treatment. They administered a second NARCAN treatment and the man regained consciousness. The man said he had taken morphine. He was stabilized and transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for continued treatment. His condition is not known.
