(Brawley has a new Police Chief)....The contract was ratified last week.
The approval of the agreement paved the way for the hiring of new Police Chief Jimmy Duran. The new Chief has been a peace officer for over 20 years. Duran began his career in the Correction Division of the Imperial County Sheriff's Office. He became a Deputy Sheriff in 1999. He became a sheriff Sergeant in 2005. The following year Duran was promoted to Lieutenant, working the north-county out of Brawley. The new Chief holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix in Administration of Criminal Justice, a Master's degree in Counseling, Marriage, Family and Child Therapy, as well as a Peace Officers Standards and Training or POST Management Certificate. He is a graduate from the Los Angeles Police Department Leadership Course and has successfully passed the Sherman Block Leadership Institute. Mayor Luke Hamby said Police Chief Duran is a proven leader and will be a great addition to the Brawley Police Department
