(38 year old arrested)...It happened Tuesday.
Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents were working the Interstate 8 Checkpoint. A Border Patrol k-9 alerted to an SUV waiting in line. The vehicle was sent to the secondary inspection area. Agents searching the vehicle discovered three vacuum sealed packages in a duffel bag. The packages contained 7.7 pounds of cocaine, valued at around $54,000. The agents also discovered a handgun in the waistband of the 38 year old driver of the SUV. The driver was also in possession of small amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Two loaded magazines were also found in the vehicle. The driver, a US citizen, was arrested. The narcotics, weapon and magazine, and the vehicle were all seized by the Border Patrol agents.
