As the COVID-19 surge continues hospital beds in the Imperial Valley are full.
According to the latest information from the Imperial County Public Health Department and El Centro Regional Medical Center , the El Centro hospital is licensed for 161 beds and as of Tuesday morning had an inpatient count of 160., of those 117 are COVID-19 positive. The hospital is able to utilize beds in a temporary medical / surgical tent set up in the north parking lot of the campus. The temporary facility has a 50 bed capacity. County-wide there are 143 COVID-19 patients hospitalized and thee is 1 ICU bed available. The public health department says that there are 2,645 active coronavirus cases in the Valley and , so far , 380 deaths have been attributed to the virus. The COVID-19 testing metrics show that there are 112.48 new cases per day per 100,000 population and individuals are testing positive at a rate of 42.25 per cent.
