El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents were working the Highway 86 checkpoint when a Hyundai Sonata drove up. A Border Patrol k-9 Team alerted to the vehicle and it was sent to the secondary inspection area. During a search of the vehicle agents found 13 packages in two ice chests. The packages tested positive for methamphetamine. They weighed a total of 3.43 pounds, with an estimated value of $7,717. The driver of the vehicle, a 50 year old male, US citizen, the vehicle and the narcotics were turned over to the County Sheriff's office.
