San Diego Gas and Electric shut off power to several communities in eastern San Diego County Tuesday.
The utility turned of electricity to Boulevard , Campo and Jacumba Tuesday morning because o high winds could down power lines and spark wildfires. The mountain areas between San Diego and Imperial County have been recording sustained winds between 20 and 30 miles per hour with gusts stronger than 40 miles per hour. An estimated 1,500 customers are affected by the shut down. Power is expected to be restored later Tuesday afternoon.
