(NAF to host a ceremony...It will be a virtual ceremony.
The US Navy will be celebrating its 245th birthday. The Naval Air Facility El Centro will hold a virtual celebration on October 13th at 12:00 noon. You will find it on the NAF Facebook page. Chief Mark Summers will act as the Master of Ceremonies, livestreamed at facebook.com/nafec. There will be comments by the Commanding Officer, Captain William Perkins, Executive Officer, Commander Jeremy Doughty, and a traditional cake cutting ceremony. The theme this year is Victory At Sea, which closes out the 73rd anniversary commemoration of World War 2, recognizes 245 years of warfighting excellance, and relates these ideas to modern Sailors who carry that heritage forward today. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the event is not open to the general public or media. It is intended to be viewed online. The public, however, is invited to participate in the celebration by sharing stories on Social Media. NAF is asking community members to post a short video to Thank a Sailor on social media on October 13th.
