(Area Agency on Aging announces a new program)....It was funded this year in July.
The Imperial County Area Agency on Aging says they are ready to start their new Dignity at Home Fall Prevention Program for seniors, age 60 of older, in Imperial County. Funding was made available with the approval of Assembly Bill 74. It will provide information and education to seniors on injury preventrion, referral relatd resources, services in the community, environmental assessmaents, and purchase of injury prevention equipment and services. These resources will enable older adults and persons with disabilities to live independently in their homes for as long as possible. The mission of the program is to reduce the number of debilitating falls sufferd by older adults and persons with disabilities. The Triple A will supply approxiumately 424 eligible individuals with a fall prevention box containing one anti-slip bedside mat, a set of four nightlights, and one bathtub/shower self-install rail or an adjustable bath and shower chair. The items will be delivered to eligible older adult's homes. The program will also provide Medical Alrt Systems to eligiblke applicants.
