(Double Fatal)...It happened Sunday afternoon.
A two vehicle collision was investigated by the California Highway Patrol. The CHP says a Toyota Camy was eastbound on Interstate 8, just east of Forrester Road. The investigation indicates the driver of the Toyota made an unsafe lane change, lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway along the north edge of eastbound I-8. The Toyota continued out of of control in the Center divider, striking an Infinity QX80, which was traveling westbound on I-8. The westbound lane was closed to traffic. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The passengers in the Infinity were taken to El Centro Regional Center for treatment of non-critical injuries. The driver of the Toyota was the sole occupant in that vehicle. The collision remains under investigation. The drivr of the Toyota was 59 year old San Diego resident. The occupants in the Infinity were all from Oceanside. No names have been released.
