The Imperial County Public Health Department updated the numbers relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of active cases dropped again. The number on Monday was 739 and Tuesday's number was 771. An additional 8 individuals were reported to have tested positive for the coronavirus. Another death was attributed to the virus , an individual between 80 - 89 years of age , with the total of deaths in the County now 294. 

Imperial County continues to be in Tier 1 Widespread risk and will remain in that category for at least 3 weeks before the State will allow further opening of businesses and services in the County. Imperial County residents are reminded that the public health mandates of wearing facial coverings , practice social distancing and avoid gatherings remains in effect. Two OptumServ test sites remain open in the Valley , one in Brawley and another in Calexico. The sites are open Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and testing is free. Appointment are necessary and may be made through the OptumServ website on with a link on the County Health Department website.
