IVDM has been approved to receive a Follow-up Review through the Museum Assessment Program, which is administered by the American Alliance of Museums and funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Service. They say this special opportunity, provided to only about 50 museums each year, allow them to build upon the progress they have made since their original MAP assessment in 2013 by reuniting them with their original Peer Reviewer for guidance and expertise on a specific issue. Since 1981, the MAP program has served over 5,000 museums and helped them strengthen operations, plan for the future and meet standards through self-assessment and a consultative site visit from an expert peer reviewer.
