Under the agreement the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act will release about $3.5 million. The funds were released by the State of California to provide academic and occupational learning assistance, leadership skills development and preparing youth for furthering education leading ultimately with employment. The Imperial County Workforce and Economic Development Director Priscilla Lopez said academic tutoring and support is provided to assist youth with GED preparations, high school credit recovery, and general academic improvement to support them in successfully completing high school or obtaining a GED.
