(June unemployment high)…The June numbers are the latest available.
The Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department released the June report Friday morning. In June the State was in the pandemic shut down. Unemployment in Imperial County was reported at 27.3 percent, the highest in California. Even so, the June jobless rate was down from the revised 27.7 percent reported in May, but above the year-ago estimate of 18.2 percent. It compares to with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 15.1 percent for California and 11.2 percent for the nation during the same period. During the month of June there were 20,200 eligible workers unemployed out of a labor force of 74,000 in Imperial County.
