(Interstate 8/Imperial Avenue)…Closures begin in early July.

Caltrans the interchange project represents a significant investment in local, state and cross-border trade and commerce. Motorists are advised to prepare for closures of eastbound Interstate 8 on and off ramps at Imperial Avenue lasting several months, beginning July 6. Adapting to COVID 19 social distancing guidelines, an informational video has been produced about the project and its impacts. Stage one of the project will require eastbound Interstate 8 on and off ramps at Imperial Avenue to be closed for 8-10 months. During the closure motorists on eastbound I-8 will b detoured along 4th street. Stage two begins in December. The total project cost is about $44 million, with $42 million funded through the Regional Improvement Program and another $2 million from the Federal Highway Priority Projects Program
