More than a quarter-million dollars worth of cocaine was seized Thursday.
A tractor-trailer entered the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City shortly before 10:00 p.m. Thursday. A Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the big rig and further inspection led to an ice chest in the sleeper area of the tractor. The ice chest contained nearly 25 pounds of cocaine with a value of more than $275,000. The ruck driver , a Mexican national , was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
