(March unemployment)….Numbers were released Friday morning.
They are the latest numbers available. The report, issued by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department, indicate a March jobless rate of 20.5 percent. That is up from a revised rate of 17 percent reported for February, and above the year ago estimate of 16.4 percent. This compares to an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.6 percent for the state and 4.5 percent for the nation during the same period. According to the report, 15,000 eligible workers were unemployed in March out of an Imperial County Labor Force of 73,200.
