The Imperial County Public Health Department has updated the COVID-19 numbers.
As of Friday morning there are 52 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Imperial County. There has been 1 death from the virus that reported Thursday. There are still several individuals who have been tested but results are pending. So far , 335 tests for the virus have come back negative. Imperial County Public Health Officer Dr. Stephan Munday has said several times that the number of cases will continue to grow but that if people will adhere to the recommendations to stay at home , maintain social distancing if it is necessary to go to the grocery store or pharmacy and continue to wash your hands and clean surfaces it will help to " flatten the curve " of new infections. The Doctor said that using masks when out in public is not mandatory , yet , but is recommended to protect yourself and others.
