(Fair numbers released)….The California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta began its ten day run February 28th.
Over-all attendance was down, due to a couple days of strong winds. The strong winds on the first Sunday prevented the fair from even opening. Total admissions were down 6 percent. Paid admissions were down 10 percent. Carnival presale was down 7 percent. Onsite sales were down 1 percent. A total of 4 percent decrease over 2019. Livestock numbers, however, were better than last year. Livestock exhibits were up 9 percent. There was a 4 percent increase in the number of animals sold. Livestock sales totaled $2,070,755.57 up 1 percent from 2019. $ 3,482 in premiums were paid to livestock exhibitors. $21,000 was the highest price paid for an animal, a steer. $55 highest per pound paid for an animal, a lamb.
