(Off-duty Border Patrol agent rescues injured man)…It happened this week in Yuma.
Agent Travis Carter is a BORSTAR operator and certified paramedic. He was watching his daughter’s soccer practice, when he heard of an incident nearby. The off-duty agent rushed to the scene and found an injured bicyclist lying in the street. The man had a large laceration above his left knee that was bleeding from a suspected femoral artery laceration. The wound was to the bone. Carter and other bystanders applied pressure to the wound until Yuma Police arrived and provided a tourniquet. Yuma Fire Department arrived and Carter assisted them in preparing the man for transfer. He was taken to Yuma Regional Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.
