The Imperial County Board of Supervisors presented a Medal of Merit to the late Leon Lesicka.
Lesicka , who passed away in December of 2019 , was honored for his dedication and commitment to the preservation of wildlife in the Imperial Valley. Lesicka pioneered building waterholes in the desert with other members of Desert Wildlife Unlimited , an organization that he and his wife LaVelle founded. He also was involved in building wetlands habitats and projects in the Salton Sea area as well as along the New and Alamo Rivers.
