(Cooking contests have wrapped up)…They are a tradition at the Holtville Carrot Festival.
Thursday night the Adult Chef’s competed in 3 categories, and the sweepstakes winner was announced. In the Dessert category, Ellen Underwood took first place with 24 karat torte. 2nd place went to Sandy Ranson with Carrot Cake cookies with cream cheese frosting. Marlene Bernsen came in 3rd with carrot cookies. In the Appetizer category, first place went to Becky Miller with jalapeno carrot chips. Lori Hill took 2nd place with Spicy rootbeer carrots, and Marlene Bernsen took 3rd place with nutty carrot dip. In the Main Dish category, first place went to Becky Miller with Carrot chicken Albondigas soup. 2nd place went to Sandy Ranson with creamy carrot comfort soup and 3rd place went to Marlene Bernsen with spicy Asian carrot rolls. The sweepstakes award went to Becky Miller and her carrot chicken albondiga soup. 2nd overall went to Ellen Underwood and her 24 karat torte.
