(Steady rain in the Valley)…It started at around 6:30 Thursday morning.
A thunderstorm was reported near Brawley, and the rain spread throughout the Valley. By mid-morning the California Highway Patrol said there was only vehicle incident that could possibly be attributed to the weather. At 9:40, a vehicle traveling on Highway 86 went off the roadway near Brandt Road, and landed in a concrete lined canal. The driver was still in the vehicle when first responders arrived at the scene. Brawley Police called in the Fire Department to help get the driver out of the vehicle. The CHP says the driver was not injured. An investigation will determined exactly what caused the incident.
