(Flu is widespread)…Throughout the state.
The California Department of Public Health says now is the time to get a flu shot. They say the flu has reached levels typically seen later in the season, including widespread influenza throughout California. The flu season officially began September 29
th. Since then there have been 16 influenza coded deaths identified on death certificates. Two of the deaths were children under the age of 18. Flu activity monitored by the state indicates flu season has started earlier in California than in recent years. They say getting vaccinated is the best defense against the flu. It takes a couple weeks after vaccination for the body to build immunity, which is why you should get your flu shot without delay. The shots are available at most all Doctor’s offices, Pharmacies and at the Public Health Department on Broadway in El Centro.
