Rain and wind battered the Imperial Valley Thursday.
Problems started on Wednesday evening when a series of 3 accidents in a 30 minute stretch slowed traffic on Interstate 8 near In-Ko-Pah. Only minor injuries were reported. On Thanksgiving Day heavy rains and rock slides on Mt. Springs grade accounted for at least 5 accidents none of them resulting in serious injuries. An accident on State Route 86 near Three Flags Ranch resulted in injuries to three people and the southbound lanes of the highway were blocked by the accident and roadway flooding. Several county roads also reported flooding Thursday afternoon and evening.
Ogilby Road was closed from Interstate 8 to Highway 78 due to flooding.
El Centro Police and Fire responded to a report of a vehicle in a canal at Commercial Street and Dogwood Road at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday. No other details are available at this time.
Flash Flood Warnings were issued by the National Weather Service for areas along the Colorado River Valley.
