(El Centro to break ground on a new park)….The ceremony will be held Thursday.
The City will also officially announce the name of the park and playground. The new park groundbreaking and naming ceremony will be held at 1906 North Waterman Avenue, South of El Centro Fire Station #3. It will start at 4:00 pm and everyone is invited. The park is being funded through Measure P funds and will include a 2-5 year old playground area, a 5-12 year old playground area, an exercise equipment area, a bocce court area, sidewalks, grass areas, picnic tables, fabric shades, lighting, drinking fountain, trees and 14 parking spaces. The park will be on 3 acres of land. At their meeting this week the El Centro City council agreed to name the park First Responders Park and the playground areas dedicated to fallen firefighter Michael Benavidez
