The threat of wildfires has resulted in San Diego Gas and Electric cutting off electric power to some eastern San Diego County communities.
The temporary shut down is a result of Santa Ana winds in the mountains that could cause power lines to arc and cause fires. According to SDG&E , over 300 customers in Live Oak Springs and Jacumba have been affected so far with the potential for other communities including Boulevard , Campo and Descanso to lose power service. The Red Flag Warning for the Santa Ana winds is expected to fade Friday afternoon.
