Caltrans has announced a two-mile section of eastbound Interstate 8 will be reduced to one lane beginning Wednesday morning.
The closure will affect traffic on the freeway from just east of Bowker Road to just west of Barbara Worth Road beginning at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday , September 18 through Friday , October 11 at about 4:00 p.m. Crews will be active at various times during the day and night continuing concrete pavement work. Occasional temporary lane and shoulder closures will continue along I-8 just west of State Route 111 to just west of Anderholt Road and from approximately a half-mile east of the East Highline Canal to just west of the State Route 98 junction.
This is the fourth segment of the I-8 Update Project that includes a major pavement rehabilitation project. There are five segments to the project that involves a 48-miles stretch of Interstate 8 east of El Centro. Segments 1 through 3 have been completed with segments 4 and 5 expected to be completed by the end of this year.
