Two men are in custody , charged with an attempted murder this week in Brawley.

According to Brawley Police Commander Brett Houser , the two men were arrested in connection with an incident that happened early Monday morning. Shortly after midnight Monday , Brawley Police officers were called to the area of 400 North I Street where they located a 48-year old man with multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital and than transferred to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs by REACH Air Ambulance. The victim , whose name has not been released , is listed in stable condition and is expected to recover from his wounds.

Information gathered during the course of the investigation led police to two suspects. One , Mariano Ramon Tabarez , an 18-year old Brawley resident , was arrested on Monday. The second suspect , Luis Esteban Gutierrez Jr., 18-years old and a resident of Brawley , was arrested in Brawley on Wednesday. Both men were booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of attempted murder.
