(Imperial County Teacher of the Year)…The Imperial County Office of Education made the announcement Wednesday morning.

First grade teacher from the Imperial Unified School District, Randi Ryan, was selected as the Imperial County Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Ryan has taught for a total of 19 years, most of which has been at T.L. Waggoner Elementary in Imperial. She is also one of the teachers that will inaugurate the new elementary school in Imperial, Cross Elementary, when school begins in August. Mrs. Ryan was also recognized recently by Association of California School Administrators as one of the Imperial County teachers of the year at a dinner this past May in El Centro. Mrs. Ryan is an alumna of both IVC and San Diego State University/Imperial Valley. She and her husband Shawn live in Imperial and they have an adult son who is married and serving in the US Army, currently deployed in Korea
