(SUV versus Peterbilt Tractor/Trailer rig)…Major injuries were reported.
The California Highway Patrol says the collision was reported at 1:50 Tuesday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of Forrester and Ross Roads. The Peterbilt was pulling double trailers full of carrots. The rig was being driven by 66 year old Guillermo Gaona of Los Banos, California. 46 year old Heather Noonan of Oceanside was driving the SUV. The CHP says the semi was northbound on Forrester at around 55 miles per hour. The SUV was westbound on Ross and was slowing for the stop at the intersection. The Highway Patrol says Noonan rolled through the stop, directly into the path of the big rig. Gaona was unable to avoid a collision and the front of the rig collided with the rear of the SUV. Forrester Road was closed for about 30 minutes as a result of the collision. The Oceanside woman was flown to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. The truck driver did not report any injuries. The CHP says alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision. The incident remains under investigation.
