Imperial County authorities say that they are continuing the process of addressing and investigating the ransomware attack that has affected their website and several of their systems.

Currently the system has been quarantined , multiple safety features have been upgraded , and data is being reviewed by multiple security firms and law enforcement agencies to determine the extent of the attack. So far the security teams have found no evidence of any personal data having been compromised.

In a letter to employees , Imperial County Executive Officer Tony Rouhotas said, " I cannot stress enough that the efforts put forth by the County and participating agencies had to be strategically coordinated to prevent any loss of information and increased intrusion in our system. Our priority is to protect the county overall , especially , the employees and the citizens.'

As of Sunday the County website has been partially restored and is expected to regain full operational status in the coming days. Departments will continue to work through temporary email addresses until email service is restored.
