U.S. Border Patrol agents seized over $1 million worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Border Patrol , a 24-year old man approached the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City in a sub-compact car. The man and car were referred to secondary inspection where 33 packages were found hidden in an aftermarket floorboard in the front and rear passenger areas. Eight of the packages contained a total of over 8 pounds of fentanyl with an estimated street value of nearly a million dollars. The remaining packages contained over 30 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated value of nearly $70,000. The driver was arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
