(President backs off on a threat)…But, he doesn’t back off very far.
Probably not enough to stop planned protests Friday. Last week President Trump threatened to close the International border crossings with Mexico, if Mexico didn’t immediately stop all illegal immigration coming into the United States. Tuesday the President backed off a little, saying Mexico was now detaining illegal Central Americans at their southern Border. Trump said he could still close the borders, but there was no timetable for that action. The President will be in Imperial County Friday. Air Force One will fly into the Naval Air Facility El Centro, and the President will travel to Calexico for a round-table discussion with law enforcement and tour a recently upgraded portion of the border fence. Protests are expected during the visit. One group will conduct what they are calling a Binational March of Unity. They are expecting over 200 participants.
