Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents have begun releasing detainees on their own recognizance.
With a significant rise in the number of family units arrested in the Yuma Sector , the Border patrol has been unable to immediately return the detainees to their country of origin and the processing centers are not designed to house the high numbers of families and small children that are taken into custody. Because of the capacity issues at the Yuma Sector Borer Patrol stations , detainees are being identified for potential release in Yuma with a notice to appear for their immigration hearings. According to Border Patrol officials , they will coordinate the releases with local stakeholders including law enforcement agencies.
