(More Support for Federal employees)…Those affected by the partial government shutdown.
The Imperial Irrigation District says those employees are eligible for payment deferral. IID General Manager Henry Martinez said the District Board directed staff to provide assistance to those customers who are federal employees impacted by the unfortunate shutdown. Martinez said at this time the IID was offering temporary suspension of each affected customer’s bills and they will continue to work with them as necessary to help them get through this difficult time. The deferral gives the affected federal employees an extra 30 days to pay their electric bills. The District will review further options if the shutdown continues further. The shutdown is the longest in American History and affects about 5,000 federal employees in the Imperial Valley. The District joins the cities of Brawley, Calexico and Imperial who are offering assistance to affected federal employees.
