(Border assistance increased)…Earlier this week it was announced the military could be leaving their border assignment.
It was estimated they could pull away from the border by December 15th. That has all changed. Within the last couple days it was announced by officials in Tijuana that they have over 5,000 Central American migrants in their city. They say the people are part of the caravan seeking asylum in the United States. The Mayor of Tijuana says they expect up to 10,000 caravan participants in the near future. The mayor said it is a Humanitarian Crisis, and he plans to ask the United Nations for help. The United States has responded by increasing trained Border Patrol agents along the Border, Including Yuma and Imperial Counties. The military presence has also increased. The President has announced he has authorized the military to use whatever force is necessary to maintain control of the border. The President has even threatened to close the border with Mexico if the situation gets out of hand. That move would be disastrous to the Imperial County economy.
