No longer a hurricane Tropical Storm Rosa still brought thunder , rain and winds to Imperial and Yuma Counties Sunday afternoon.
The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of 54 miles per hour at Yuma Marine Corps Air Station. The thunderstorms also brought over two-thirds of an inch of rain and caused flooding in the City of Yuma. Flooding was also reported along Highway 78 between Ogilby Road and Blythe and in the Winterhaven area. Winds at the Imperial County Airport peaked at 43 miles per hour at about 5:20 p.m. More than three-quarters of an inch of rain was measured at the airport from the thunderstorms that rolled through the Valley. Downed power lines caused the closure of Keystone Road between Dogwood Road and Old Highway 111.
The National Weather Service in Phoenix issued an updated weather briefing late Sunday afternoon and said that the potential for heavy rainfall with locally windy conditions will continue through Wednesday. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect. NWS said that the heaviest rain will be Monday night through Tuesday morning.
