(Cal Trans getting fresh money)…This will allow them to begin more than 120 new projects.
They are receiving almost a half a billion dollars in SB 1 funds. Cal Trans says the money from the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 will allow them to move forward with projects that had been put on hold because of a lack of funds. There are no new projects scheduled for Imperial County. There is currently a massive project rehabbing Interstate 8 underway in the County. The funds will pay for an $8.0 million striping project that will widen striping and increase visibility on 196 lane miles of Interstate 8 from the Imperial County/San Diego line to Alpine. The funds will also pay for Bridge repair projects that include a project in Boulevard. The new projects are expected to begin this fiscal year.
