U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found over $800,000 worth of Methamphetamine and cocaine Wednesday evening.
Officers at the Calexico East port commercial facility found more than 256 packages of the drugs hidden under a mattress in a tractor truck. The tractor was pulling a trailer that was manifested to be carrying green onions. The CBP officer thought the mattress in the sleeper area didn't look right and referred the truck for an x-ray examination. That exam detected an anomaly and a more thorough examination was made. Inspectors found 252 packages of meth weighing over 300 pounds and four packages of cocaine with a weight of six pounds. The estimated street value of the drugs is over $830,000. The driver , a 50-year old Mexican national from Mexicali , was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail.
