The California Department of Housing and Community Development Department recently announced the award of a community Development Block Grant for the development of a Niland Public Safety Facility and improvements to the Seeley community water system. $5 million was awarded to construct the new Niland Public Safety Facility, which will house County Fire and the Sheriff’s Office. $1.3 million will be used for improvements to the water lines in the Seeley County Water District, a water/wastewater special district. The District has 484 residential water connections and 13 industrial/commercial water connections serving approximately 1,800 people. The system dates back to the 1960. It is aged and in need of replacement.
