(Saturday would be a good day to go fishing)…In California, anyway.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife says this Saturday is a free fishing day in the state. It is the first of two free fishing days this year. The second free fishing day will be September 1st. The CDFW annually offers two free fishing days, typically around the 4th of July and Labor Day Weekends. On the designated days people can fish without having to buy a sport fishing license. Free Fishing days also provide and easy opportunity for licensed anglers to introduce non-anglers and children to fishing and the outdoors. All fishing regulations will remain in effect, such as bag and size limits, gear restrictions, report card requirements and fishing hours and stream closures.
