(Certificates for matching scholarships)…22 Certificates were presented Tuesday.
The Imperial County Agriculture Benefit Program was established to mitigate losses to Ag Production, Ag Jobs, and the local economy resulting from renewable energy development on farmland in Imperial County. One of those areas supported for funding by the Board of Supervisors is education, specifically scholarships for Imperial County students majoring in agriculture. The Supervisors agreed match scholarships already approved by other organizations, for qualified students. Tuesday the Supervisors handed out a cumulative total of $43,000 in scholarship certificates to 22 qualifying students. Following the presentations by the Board of Supervisors, the recipients and their family members were treated to a reception next to the Board Chambers.
