(Excessive heat and poor air quality)…That is what Calexico is dealing with.
The National Weather Service says temperatures will range from 110 to 115 degrees today. The Air Pollution Control District also issued an Air Quality Alert at 8:00 this morning. The Alert is for high levels of PM 2.5 at the Ethel Street monitoring station. PM 2.5 is a finite particulate matter, created mostly from vehicle emissions. Air Quality in Calexico was listed as Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. Those groups include people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children. It is recommended those in the Sensitive Groups stay indoors as much as possible and avoid heavy exertion until the particulate levels lower.
