(Proposition 68 on the State ballot)…The county remains in limbo.
There was a big push to pass the $4 billion bond measure before the Primary Election Tuesday. The measure would provide much needed competitive grant funds for the New River and other water issues. It would also provide $200 million for mitigation of the Salton Sea. Election officials say it may be a few weeks before we find out if the proposition was approved by voters. The officials say there are several counties, including Imperial County, who have not counted all the ballots cast Tuesday. As it stands right now, 56 percent of the vote is in favor of the proposition, with 44 percent against. The officials say they do not anticipate any great shift in the numbers, but it will be enough to determine if the Proposition passes or fails.
