The Tuesday Primary Election results have been released.
In the race for Imperial Irrigation District Division 1 , El Centro City Councilman Alex Cardenas unseated Juanita Salas with Cardenas garnering 54.5% of the votes cast. The IID Division 3 race saw James C. Hanks reelected with 51.5% of the votes and the IID Division 5 race will see a run off in November with incumbent Norma Sierra Galindo picking up 37.5% of the vote and Carlos Zaragoza with 27%.
Imperial County Supervisor 1st District incumbent John Renison will face Jesus Eduardo Escobar in a November run off. Renison picked up 37.4 % of the ballots cast while Escobar had 26.1%.
District Attorney Gilbert Otero was reelected with 55.9% of the vote and challenger Edgard Garcia getting 44%.
County Auditor / Controller Doug Newland was defeated by Josue' " Josh " Mercado. Mercado had the edge with 55.8% of the votes cast.
In the races for Imperial County Superior Court seats. Judge Juan Ulloa was reelected with 54.4% of the ballots cast for seat 1. The race for Seat 3 will continue in November with Tom Storey picking up 38.9% to Monica Lepe Negrete's 38.8%.
The Westmorland City Council race has Ana Beltran , Henry D. Graham , Jr. and Lawrence Ritchie in the top three spots.
Voter turnout was very light for the June General Primary Election with less that 20% of registered voters casting ballots.
The results are final but unofficial.
